the most horrible night in your life vol. 7

Wednesday, June 22 is scheduled to be the most horrible night in your life (vol. 7). I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that THE AMBiENT PiNG moves back to Tuesdays the night before ... who knows. All I know is that I'm going to be in attendance with my new Dana Wireless [recently christened Scully to avoid confusion with Scott's sister Dana] and a set of earplugs. Never a martyr for art, apparently I am a keener when it comes to supporting my favorite band, dreamSTATE, and writing reviews for i POP PiNG. [sigh] Click on the title above to check out the dreamSTATE website.

The event starts @ 8:30. Make your way to the new works studio (319 spadina ave.) to experience the misery.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Some of you may be familiar with my alter-ego, Luna Tek. For those of you who aren't, Luna Tek writes a re-view, II: IN THE LOOP :II, for THE AMBiENT PiNG's weekly newsletter (click on the title above to check out the PiNG website).

Luna Tek and THE AMBiENT PiNG, Toronto’s longest running ambient-experimental music series, are getting ready to launch a quarterly arts magazine chocked full of news and views about the ambient, improvisational and experimental arts scene.

i POP PiNG will be launched at Word on the Street in late September 2005.

i POP PiNG is looking for articles, art work, reviews and musings by performers and listeners with ambient, improvisational and experimental leanings.

Please e-mail queries to
luna@theambientping.com.

Artists from outside Toronto and Canada are also encouraged to query.

Oblique musings

Whew!! School's almost out and I'm ready to hang up my teacher's hat for the summer!

On the word front, here's what's happening: some freelance work for musicworks magazine; i POP PiNG, a scene magazine that will be launched at Toronto's Word on the Street in September 2005; a sound art project with electronic musician rik maclean (aka mara's torment); and Oblique Poetries, my new manuscript.

And (drum roll please!!) Moon Sea Crossing, my first book of poetry, will be published by Black Moss Press later this summer! (Information about ordering signed copies will be available on my website soon.)

Stay tuned ....
