From yesterday's National Post:
Jazz piano legend Oscar Peterson said he is shaken by "bigots" driving by his Mississauga home and shouting racial slurs. "[They were] calling my name and adding invectives," the 81-year-old said last night. "Bigots are everywhere." His neighbours told him they first heard the racial attacks while he was travelling in Europe with his family a few months ago. Then his wife heard them again on Saturday night, he said. "Being not only a husband and a father, I have to be concerned because when I leave the country, my family's here. I'd like to know that they are safe and not being abused." Mr. Peterson, one of the most accomplished pianists of the world, was given the Grammy Lifetime Achievement award.
